CHAN

Chan is a retired detection canine from United States Customs. He worked in southern Arizona for six years before retiring in the spring of 2015. In January 2016, his owner noticed a mass developing on Chan’s neck that needed to removed. Chan also had seven teeth that needed to be extracted. Retired Paws is very happy to say that Chan’s surgery went well and he is fully recovered. He enjoys living his retired life in sunny Arizona. We were happy to help.

KUBO

Kubo is a retired patrol canine from the United States Secret Service.

Kubo served as a tactical canine for the USSS from 2008 to 2016. He helped provide a tactical reponse against potential threats at the White House, Camp David, and other protective venues both domestic and abroad. Kubo was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2016 and subsequently retired to begin treatment.

Kubo is responding to his treatment and his vets are very optimistic. He is a true fighter.

Treating cancer aggressively is very expensive and we are happy to assist Kubo and his family with his medical expenses.

CHANGE

Change was a retired detection canine from U.S. Customs. He worked in the Nogales, Arizona port of entry for six years. He retired in March of 2011. Unfortunately, in early 2016 Change was diagnosed with laryngial paralysis and he was having difficulty breathing. Change went in for surgery in January and did not survive. He was loved by many and had a terrific time being retired.

Although Change’s surgery was unsuccessful, it was still costly. Retired Paws was able to assist in paying for his care.

ZEUS

Zeus is a retired dual purpose (Patrol/Narcotics) canine from the Lakeville Police Department in Minnesota. He began serving his community in February of 2010 and retired in January of 2016 after being diagnosed with renal kidney failure. Retired Paws is happy to assist with his care, and we are hoping Zeus enjoys a long, fun-filled retirement.

LUNAR

Lunar is a retired detection canine from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office in North Dakota. Lunar served his community for 7 years until he retired in September of 2014. In December of 2015 Lunar lost a significant amount of weight and was having horrible stomach pain. He was diagnosed with Prostatitis and gastrointestinal disease. Retired Paws is happy to assit paying for his medical bills and prescription food costs.

DEUCE

Deuce is a 10-year-old retired dual purpose (Patrol/Detection) canine from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department. Deuce retired after 8 years of dedicated service after suffering from arthritis and having shoulder surgery. Since his retirement Deuce has had to have a second shoulder surgery and in October of 2015 he needed surgery to repair a ligament in his knee. We are happy to help pay for Deuce’s ligament surgery and are even more happy to say he is recovering well in sunny Florida, where he is enjoying his retirement.

UTAH

Utah is a retired explosives detection canine from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. Utah served for 7 years and retired in 2012. He supported numerous missions and conducted sweeps for Hillary Clinton, Dick Cheney, the U.S. Open, the Solheim Cup and major local events during his career. Utah had a tumor growing on his gum that needed to be removed and he needed a tooth extracted. Retired Paws was happy to help. We are also glad to say he is doing well and recovering quickly.

MIKE-B

Mike-B is a retired patrol canine from the United States Border Patrol. He was partnered with his handler since July of 2010 and retired in January of 2015. Mike-B was diagnosed with moderately severe dyspasia in the elbows of his front legs. It was getting too painful for Mike-B to continue patrolling the rugged terrain of the Arizona landscape and it was in his best interest to retire him.

We at Retired Paws were very happy to assist in paying for surgery to repair some of the dysplasia in Mike-B’s elbows. We are glad to say he is doing well and enjoying his retirement.

CJ

CJ is a retired dual purpose (Patrol/Narcotics Detection) canine from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. CJ worked for his department and handler for a little over 8 years. He was retired in March of 2015 due to age and a leg injury he sustained while tracking a suspect. CJ is now living the good life soaking up the sun in Tampa. CJ ruptured a blood vessel in his ear that required surgery. We are very happy to assist CJ with his medical expenses.

AZIZ

Aziz is a retired tactical canine from the United States Secret Service. Aziz completed the Tactical Canine Course at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Beltsville, Maryland on July 25, 2003. Aziz had a distinguished career with the USSS. He was the founding member of the first apprehension/tactical K9 class for the USSS and played an instrumental role in providing tactical response when neutralizing threats at the White House, Camp David, Crawford, Texas, and other protective venues. Aziz retired in 2010 and started to develop bridging spondylitis.

Retired Paws is honored to have helped pay for Aziz’s medical bills to help with his degenerative spin disease.
